I've lived on the beach for my entire life, and I honey my town, but I have to admit that our beaches just don't compete with those on Anna Maria. We fabricated the three-hour drive to Anna Maria Island and stayed for iii nights. This is a travel diary of our trip, and my recommendations on where to stay, eat and visit. I've provided helpful maps of everything every bit well.

Here is a map of Anna Maria Isle. It sits on the Gulf of Mexico on Florida'due south central west declension.

Plus I observed a lot more condos. But again, this is just my first impression during an early morning stroll.

Stay somewhere correct on the beach, if you can. Nothing beats being able to walk out your door direct onto the white sand. And there are countless rentals right on the beach.

But if yous can't stay correct on the beach, don't worry. The best part nearly this island is that pretty much everywhere is walking distance to the beaches of Anna Maria Island.

We stayed at Angelino's Sea Social club in Holmes Beach. It'southward tranquility and secluded, and nosotros absolutely loved it!Best part is, information technology'south directly on the embankment!

The belongings is a tropical oasis! I got major Costa-Rica vibes. Y'all walk out of your room and are immediately surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping and white sand.

The owners, Richard and Lynn, live in the home and then rent out the four apartment-way units on their property.  It's the perfect family friendly rental on the beach.

If you are group of families traveling together, this identify is even more perfect for you because you can rent out all four units and have the entire property to yourself!

Oh and there'due south the COOLEST treehouse! It's not currently open to the public, but it's still absurd to expect at and take photos with! Anybody on the embankment was stopping by to admire and take photos.

Getting Around Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island Restaurants

I will be 100% honest here (every bit I e'er am) and say that the food on Anna Maria Isle wasn't our favorite. With that said, we are vegetarians, so nosotros are used to navigating this and information technology doesn't really bother us.

Being on the sea, Anna Maria has a lot of seafood that I'm sure is amazing, nosotros merely didn't consume information technology so I can't comment on it.

Here is where nosotros ate, and our recommended Anna Maria Island Restaurants:

Paradise Bagels – This was our #i place. We loved it! It'due south an old schoolhouse, mom-due north-popular breakfast joint. It doesn't fifty-fifty accept a website or wifi! Merely they have PROPER New York Urban center bagels (if you haven't had them, you're missing out.) The staff was actually friendly, and everyone was just enjoying their morning and drinking their java and having a nice conversation. It

was such a refreshing place to run across still exists in today's fast-paced "trendy" world.

The Waffle Printing. Well, it's more of a coffee shop really. The food was absolutely astonishing and it'south vegetarian friendly. Merely the service we experienced wasn't great, unfortunately. Their coffee is really skillful, merely their waffle menu is what makes it special. Their sandwiches take waffles as the bread. Information technology's SO delicious. I would nevertheless go back, I would just club to-get instead of eating there.

Probably the most popular eating house on the island is Sandbar. Nosotros went there for dinner, and I found the food to be very average (again, not a great place for vegetarians.) However, the views and the drinks were admittedly spectacular. You sit at a table correct on the sand, it's really cool.

And so yes, I would nonetheless recommend going to Sandbar on your trip. Next time I get, though, it will just be for a few drinks at sunset. Also, expect a long wait, it'due south always packed. Oh, and it's pretty expensive, too.

If you dearest a practiced burger, check out Duffy's or Skinny'southward. They are local rivals. We obviously skipped these, merely they were always packed when we went by them. Definitely check them out if you love burgers.

The Perfect Pandemic Escape

This trip was taken in June 2020, right in the centre of the COVID19 pandemic.  And nosotros took all recommended precautions such every bit social distancing and wearing masks.
